Web Analytics
Web analytics in a nutshell is the measurement of the
behaviour of visitors to your website. In general terms, web
analytics is the process of automatically capturing data about
the activities of people accessing your website. How they found
you, when they visited, what pages they looked at, what they
bought or downloaded, etc The capture of that data for
information that can be used to improve your website.
From a commercial point of view, it especially refers to the
measurement of which aspects of the website work towards the
search engine marketing objectives; for example, which landing
pages encourage people to make a purchase.
Automatic Data Capture
There are two main automatic data capture approaches to collecting web analytics data. The first method, log-file analysis, a software analysis tool reads the log-files in which the web server records all its transactions and translates that information into useable information. The second method, page tagging, uses JavaScript on each page to notify a third-party server when a page is rendered by a web browser.ISM Associates analyses manually as well as using different vendors provide web analytics software and services to aid our web market intelligence as part of search engine marketing strategies.
